AI safety for small businesses

Lesson 10 of 10 in Small Business AI Foundations

The one idea

AI can save time, but trust is expensive to rebuild. Small businesses should protect customer data, staff information, bank details, supplier contracts, passwords, and sensitive numbers.

Use three buckets before pasting anything: public, business-internal, and confidential. Public information is easiest. Internal information needs judgment. Confidential information needs strict care and often should not be pasted at all.

Fraud risk matters too. Never let AI approve bank-detail changes, payment instructions, legal commitments, or customer refunds without human verification.

Your win today

Make a short safety checklist for what your business will not paste into AI.
