Your personal AI task map

Lesson 12 of 12 in AI at Work Foundations

The one idea

You do not need to use AI for everything. The fastest wins come from choosing the right tasks — and a simple map makes the choice obvious.

Draw a 2x2. One axis is how often or how valuable a task is. The other axis is how risky it is if the output is wrong.

Reading the map

  • Frequent + low-risk → your best starting tasks. Drafting routine replies, tidying notes, summarising your own documents. Do these first.
  • Frequent + high-risk → great value, but build a human review step before you rely on the output. Think anything customer-facing, financial, or legal.
  • Rare + low-risk → fine to use AI when it comes up; not worth building a system around.
  • Rare + high-risk → usually not worth it. Bring in a human expert.

Reusable beats one-off

A task you do often is worth turning into a reusable prompt or template. The effort you spend getting it right pays back every single time you run it — that is how small wins compound into hours saved.

Try it now

List five tasks from your real week. Place each on the 2x2. Pick the one that is most frequent and lowest risk, and make that your next AI habit.

Your win today

You know exactly where to point AI first — frequent, low-risk tasks turned into reusable prompts — and which high-risk work needs a human check before you trust it.

Turn the idea into a reflex

Members practice this against a real AI assistant, get feedback on the prompt, then review it before the idea fades.
